Here are some of his tentative steps.
First he checks out the crabapple tree. As you can see the white blossoms have been falling steadily on the ground.
Dylan checks back to make sure he can see me, because I am the only one who can open the back door to let him in.
Feeling a little more secure, Dylan ventures into the far back corner of the yard and sniffs out what's new.
That 'I-V' in the corner must be keeping him calm. If nothing else it serves as partial CATmouflage.
Shortly after this, Dylan bounded back on the deck and demanded to be let in.
At least he's checked out one part of yard before he checked in again!
