TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: A TAIL OF WOE!

I've told the tale of Domino's tail before, but it bears repeating.  I am not Domino's first human; I became hers when she was a little over a year old.

My son, Ryan, lived in a townhouse with a couple of roommates at the time.  One of his roommates (whose name I shall not mention) smuggled in a tiny tuxy kitten, despite being told that animals weren't allowed.  When Ryan finally discovered her, of course he let her stay.  In fact, the weekend after getting the kitten he named Domino, the roommate left her to go home for Thanksgiving, without a thought to her care in his absence.

Ryan brought Domino over to our house.  She was the cutest little kitten, with the feistiest PURRsonality!  She did this sideways hop with a wild look in her eyes, as a prelude to pouncing.  We fed her, and pampered her.  She was especially partial to finger foods.

Anyway, this initial abandonment by Domino's human was only a hint of what was to come.  Domino was just fortunate that my son was around to look out for her.

In the intervening year, Domino had a litter of two kittens, and she was the best mother ever.  It changed her from a wild thing to a devoted nurturer.  The kittens were eventually given away to friends of the roommate and their fate is unknown thereafter.

However, by the following November, the roommate moved out, and Ryan thought that was that.  He was later to discover that Domino had been left behind, locked in the garage in the dark.  By the time he found her, after a couple of days, there was no food or water left, and she was ridden with fleas.  When Ryan apprised me of the situation, I asked him to bring her to me right away.

The poor little thing was undernourished and scratching non-stop.  Ryan picked up some flea soap, and I bathed her right away.  As soon as possible, she was off to the vet for a check-up, shots and some 'Revolution' to get rid of those pests once and for all.  Shortly after, Domino went back for her ladygardenectomy.

Domino has been mine ever since, and she has turned into a loving pet.  She still has a feisty PURRsonality, though she's not so wild anymore.  She rules the house with a velvet paw.

However, I soon discovered that Domino had a twitchy tail.  It would go off on her at random -- it seemed to have a mind of its own.  It always bothers her.  She tries to run away from it, but it follows her relentlessly.  She tries to catch it, but it always escapes.

One day when Domino's former human dropped by with Ryan, the mystery of the twitching tail was solved. In greeting her, he said "Hey, Domino -- remember this?" as he pulled her tail until it audibly snapped!!!  I screamed and asked him to stop, whereupon he told me she liked it -- that this was a 'game' they always played.

What a stupid human!  At least now we know the cause of Domino's plight, though there was nothing to be done about it, according to the vet.

You will be happy to know that Domino has never seen this guy since, though she is cursed with the legacy that he has left her.

This is a video of Dommy dealing with her damaged tail.  A tail of woe, indeed!

"Whoa!  Whoa!  Darn tail!"

Despite everything, Domino is the one who has triumphed.  She has a marvelous life, is well loved and has everything she wants and needs.

And this is why, I believe, she is so beautiful -- her inner joy just radiates (as I'm sure Milo can testify).

And so, this 'Tail of Woe' actually ends happily after all!

DOMINO AND DYLAN SMELL SOMETHING INDESCENT!

After some rain had washed away most of the snow, Domino and Dylan were anxious to explore every corner of the back yard.  Strangely, they were each drawn to the exact same spot, but separately -- each approaching for an opposite direction.  What on earth (literally) was so compelling to induce this extended spate of smelling?

During the course of their investigations, both Domino and Dylan struck some picturesque poses, which I was at the ready to capture.

Whatever it was, the scent was so powerful that it wafted it's way to their sensitive noses from a distance. Can you guess what it was?  Perhaps you already know if you visited Dante's blog yesterday.  If not, you can go there now and the mystery will be revealed.

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: SNOW QUEEN

Domino is Queen of her domain in all kinds of weather.  Against the backdrop of white, however, she makes a stunning contrast in her tuxedo black.  The snow is a PURRfect foil for her beauty.

Domino always strikes just the right note, and just the right pose.  Snowbody does it better!

Domino is like the icing on top of the ice.  "Let de rest of dem eat cake!", she says.

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DYLAN AND DANTE: EXPLORING THE ARCTIC TUNDRA

The following is photographic documentation of my mighty mancats, Dylan and Dante, exploring the far reaches of the Arctic tundra that is our back deck.

Daddy was so kind to shovel the snow off the deck and the benches so the mancats wouldn't have to plunge their dainty feet into the cold white stuff.  He couldn't clear off the ice, however, so tender paw pads were still exposed to the frigid conditions.

To their credit, my mancats spent some time checking out their frozen territorial expanse.  They had to sniff out every corner and examine every square inch.  After all it has been well over a month since they had last stepped foot on deck.

Here is the evidence of their brave Arctic venture.

Something under here sure smells good!

Just look at that frozen wasteland!  It used to be all green.

You check the other way, while I check in this direction.

There's something in the air, and on the stair!

You can never be too careful when you're this far from home.

You sniff high and I'll sniff low.

I see lots of footprints frozen in the ice!

Hmmm!  There's some up here, too!

Everywhere you look, there's evidence of invasion!

Must be some type of abominable snowsquirrel!

What an abomination!

Here's one for the front cover!

And this one's for the back!

Dylan and Dante, having completed their mission, posed for the cover shots of the magazine where the findings of their expedition will be published.  Watch out for them in the next issue of "Frosty Felines", coming out at the end of this month.

We're just so glad they are safe and sound back home after risking their lives in such dangerous conditions.  They're planning another expedition come Spring.

What courageous mancats are they!

DOMINO'S NEW YEAR'S EVE DATE!

It's New Year's Eve, and Domino is waiting out on the front porch for her boyfriend, Milo, to arrive so they can go out dancing.  Domino's all dressed up in her black and gold dancing dress.  It will sparkle under the disco ball, but it's still comfortable enough to allow her to let loose on the dance floor.

Domino's very anxious for Milo to arrive safely.

She always worries when he's flying his boogie mat across the pond.

"Wot time is it, mama?  He shud be heer soon!"

Mama says it's only dinner time an' it's much too erly.  Milo's not supposta be heer until 8!

"But wait!  I heer sumfing!"

"Cud it be?  Alreddy???"

"It's him!  It's him!  Let da bells ring out an' da boogie mats fly -- it's him!

"Heer I am my darling Dommy!  I came erly to take yoo out to dinnah first, and den we'll hit da dance floor at da Pussycat Club!"

And so they did.

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S TO YOU ALL!
2011 IS GOING TO BE GRRRRREAT!!!

A 3-D CAT CHRISTMAS! (In as few words as pawsible)

The 3-Ds were quite busy over Christmas.  They entertained company on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

CHRISTMAS EVE

Domino entertains Grampa and our furiend, Marilyn.

Domino likes all the attention.

Got milk!

Dante joins us at the dinner table.

This is what he sees!  That's our Uncle Barry behind the candle, and there's salmon on that plate!!!

Now they're opening PURResents.

But Domino is the best one of all!

Daddy sure likes to talk!

Grampa's better at giving pats.

CHRISTMAS DAY

We had our own company Christmas morning, and mama poured on the catnip for us!

This is our nephew, Sox.  He belongs to our brotherbean, Ryan.  Mama was so busy taking pictures of us cats, she forgot to take any of her own son!

Dante's trying to talk some sense into Sox, but it just isn't working.  We think he may be a drug addict.

This is our niece, Missy, but when she's at our house we call her "Hissy" (for good reason).

That Sox is such a clown!

Dylan has been guarding the Christmas tree.

He wants to make sure nobody steals his stuff.

This is what the tree looked like on Christmas Day.  Can you see what's at the very top of it?

Mama got a new treetopPURR this Christmas.  It is a cat in Santa's clothing!

This is our mantle.  There are a few cats on it, too!

This is a very special ornament.  It was a PURResent for Mama from Auntie Carm (aka Crazy Cat Lady Carm), and it looks just like Domino!

This is our Uncle Barry who came back for dinner on Christmas Day.  They had roast beast but we didn't have any.  We did get lots and lots of nip and treats, though.

THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS

This is what Mama calls "The Aftermath".  We don't know why, though, because we didn't have to do any arithmatic at all!

Domino really got into the nip.  She was just too busy entertaining before this.

Dante and Dylan have a broFURly moment.

And Domino recycles all of the tissue paPURR!
