TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: TOP CAT'S TOPCOAT!

It has been more than chilly around here lately, so I bought Domino a coat to wear outside. This way she can still get some fresh air and not have to worry about the cold.

At the same time, it afforded yet another opportunity for a modelling shoot -- for which Domino is always game.

Here is a full view of Domino's new coat. It is a pink and blue tweed and is fully lined on the inside for warmth.

The hood is trimmed and lined with a lovely pale gray faux fur.

"An' itz all FAUX me!", claims Domino.

There is a beautiful bow detail on the bottom right of the coat, enhanced with a rhinestone clip. Domino just LOVES sparkly things!

The hood can be pulled back to allow a better view.

"I yam happeh dat it duzn't covah mai eers!", says Dommy.

All in all, Domino is pleased as punch about her new coat and is happy that I paid less than reTAIL. Strait up!", she exclaims.

Then unexpectedly, Daddy comes out to join us, and scoops up Domino off her chair.
"How hoomiliatin'!", says she.

Then she realizes that it's not so bad after all. Daddy can help her display her new topcoat even better.

Doesn't the faux-fur just frame her face beautifully?

It's fit for a Queen -- and Domino is certainly our little Queen. Long may she rule!

3-D MANCAT MONDAY (GUEST-STARRING DOMINO): A REAL GENTLEMANCAT IS GENTLE

... and a rose is a rose is a rose!

There's no doubt that Dylan and Dante are tried and true mancats. However one of them has demonstrated a truly genteel composure and the other has not. Can you guess which is which?

Domino has graciously offered herself up for this experiment. How one treats a ladycat is a real test for any would-be gentlemancat.

First up is Dylan. You may recall these pictures from earlier this month, but they are required once again for comparison PURRposes.

Dylan has succumbed to his baser urges and assaulted a ladycat's PURRson. Consequently, he has ended up quite alone.

By stark contrast witness Dante.

He politely chats up the ladycat ...

... while maintaining an appropriate distance.

Consequently, Dante and Domino are quite at ease.

They are a picture of true harmony as they continue to enjoy each other's company.

Dante has a set a new 'benchmark' for gentlemancatly behaviour -- one that Dylan may certainly aspire to. With Dante as his role model, we are ever hopeful that one day, Dylan will gently reign himself in and join the ranks of honourable gentlemancats.

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: WHO DINI?

It's been quite awhile since Domino last modelled a dress. A new one arrived the other day, so we took the opportunity to document it. Little did we know at the time, that Domino had since acquired new skills. She has become quite the little magician!

Here is Domino in her pretty new dress. It has a black skirt and collar with pink polka dots, and a black glittery bodice. A pink lace belt culminates in a bow at the waist.

The collar is of PURRticular interest because it is rather large.

Domino says "Jus' watch!"

Domino has moved to a different venue to complete her modelling-shoot-come-magic act.

You will note that her left leg is no longer visible.

Ah -- there it is! Domino has worked it out of the armhole and up through the generously-sized collar.

She just plays it nonchalantly -- curling under her paw to appear rather relaxed.

And in an instant -- before you even knew what was happening, she has worked her entire shoulder and arm out of the dress!

Once again Domino is taking it easy -- just hanging around -- it's the art of distraction, you know!

She innocently stretches, all the while working more of herself out of the dress.

She pretends to snooze, keeping one eye steadily on her audience.

She directs the camera to pull back (another diversionary tactic, PURRhaps?).

Voila! The next time you see her, she's one step closer to escape.

Domino notices Dylan and thinks he could be a useful PAWn.

"Come ovah heer fur a minit willya, Dylan?", she asks.

Dylan, the innocent dupe, complies.

(Note, Domino is easing herself, ever so slowly, off the bench.)

And then, when Dylan looks away for just a moment ...

... Domino vanishes completely! Only her dress is left behind.

Come to think of it, Domino is quite reminiscent of the great Houdini escaping the confines of his straightjacket. So the answer to the question "Who Dini?" is:

DOMINO!!!

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DANTE AND DYLAN: FELINE ON TOP OF THE WORLD!

In our house, the top of the cat tree is the top of the world -- from a feline PURRspective at least. Although there are three PURRches, each of my three cats prefers only the top spot, so they share it -- one at a time. The other ledges are used only for climbing up to that coveted post.

Here is Dylan on top.

From this location you have a view of the world both inside and out.

It makes a mancat feel rather 'rugged' ...

... not only because he mastered the difficult ascent to the summit, but because its surface is carpeted. So cozy!

It's the one time when Dylan can actually feel like the top cat ...

... and look down on the real ruler of the house!

When it's Dante's turn, he claims the top spot with authority. He looks rather haughty and regal ...

... but he's actually just a big softie!

Dante appreciates the beauty all around him.

And the vantagepoint from which he can view it.

However, what Dante likes most about this PURRch on high ...

... is that it's the best place in the house to 'log off'! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ...

Domino is outside on her basket chair PURRusing the changes in the front yard. There is evidence of multiple introoders. In fact, it was a virtual invasion!

"Hello efurryone! I came outside dis mornin' to a horrific site", says Domino.

"Let me show yoo wot I saw."

"Da hole front yard is covahed in tracks!"

"Dey infiltrated us at nite wen I wuz sleepin' -- all sortsa beesties!"

"I jus' cant beleefs mai eyes!"

"It wuz sum sorta stampeed!"

"Rite on mai frunt doorstep! Da nerve!"

"Let us take a closah look ta see if we kin identify da culPURRits."

Over by the Manitoba maple at the front of the yard, it looks like rabbit tracks.

Coming from the bushes in the garden, there are what appear to be multiple squirrel tracks.

These ones are very tiny, and could even be a chipmunk or a baby bunny.

"An' wot do I see rite undah mai chair?", asks Domino.

"Dey are da smallest tracks of all!"

"Birdie tracks!"

"I'm afraid dat I messed up da crime seen wif pawprints of mai own -- but wot's an investiCATor to do?"

"I mus' say, I really has a nose for dis sorta fing! But mai job has jus' begun. I still hasta find out who's responsibull for dis conspiracy. I'm takin' tips from da public, so please speak yoor mind."

MANCAT ON A MISSION WITH DYLAN: GUEST-STARRING DOMINO

Dylan is outside today on a sunny day, all ready to scout out his territory. As usual with Dylan, things start out just fine, but tend to get off track along the way.

Dylan starts off on the front porch with a clear path in mind.

"I'm gonna check out da nayPURR's place to see wot's noo", he says.

After only a step or two, though, Dylan's on a roll!

He feels compelled to retrace his step.

There are no ifs or ands about it -- but there is a familiar butt to sniff out.

Resisting temptation for the moment, Dylan moves on in the opposite direction. His original mission forgotten, Dylan just can't get Domino out of his mind.

Even though she is his sister, there is that irresistible call of the booty that has driven mancats wild from time immemorial!

Still feigning disinterest, Dylan goes back for another look.

The call of the wild is just too powerful ...

... and Dylan takes the leap!

At first, all is well.

With Dylan looking the other way, Domino has let down her guard.

And just as Domino finally relaxes ...

... Dylan pounces!

Rrrrrrowwwwwwwwr!!! Hisssssssssssssss!!!

Alas, HISStory has repeated itself.

"Wha? Ware she go?" asks Dylan dumbfounded ('dumb' is the key word here).

"Cum back Domino! I wuz jus' kittin' around."

Dylan has managed to turn a routine scouting mission into Mission ImPAWSible -- again!

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: AND SNOW IT GOES ...

Domino is one of the bravest of kitties when it comes to venturing out in the snow. She isn't phased by it, one bit!

Domino is all dressed up in her glitter dress and is ready for dancing the night away with her beau, Milo. She's sweet but quite impatient, and just cannot wait for him to show up. "Get a move on, Milo -- TOOT SWEET!", she says.

She's not just blowing her own horn. Domino hopes everyone has a blast tonight, and smooth sailing throughout 2012 -- even if it takes an icebreaker to do it!

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: HOLIDAY HO-HO-HOSTESS!

Domino was on duty as hostess again last Saturday night when Mommy had a couple of her friends over for a Christmas dessert party.

Of course, we started off in the living room which is decorated to the gills (although there was absolutely nothing fishy about it). The mantle was set with a flourish, and the fire was lit. The tree was luminous in all its glory.

Here is Domino dressed in her Minnie Mouse outfit, waiting for guests to arrive. I couldn't find her red and white Santa dress, so I just settled for red with polka dots.

This is the mantle dressed to the nines -- although I think it's really a 10 out of 10!

The centrepiece is a Jim Shore Santa holding a kitty that looks a little like Dylan. To his right, there are two other playful kittens frolicking on the edge.

Here's another shot of our Christmas tree, but look what's on top ...

... why, it's a Santa kitty of all things! Who would've thought?

There's another large Santa PURRched on an end table beside the tree, and another tiny green Santa holding a kitty right in front.

Domino likes this ornament the best, because it looks just like her. She wouldn't mind having red boots like that either -- they're very fashionable. Auntie Carm (aka Crazy Cat Lady Carm) gave us this ornament last year. We just love it!

Then the first guest arrives. It's Auntie Susan, and she brought gifts.

"Yeah! And dis is wot I got!!!", exclaims Domino. You can see how pleased she is. Ho! Ho! Ho!

And just when she thought that was it, we hauled out the Santa hat to complete the look. Domino was just ecstatic!

As long as we didn't cover her ears, Domino was a happy girl.

"Oh, yoo fink so, do yoo?", says she. "Well, yoo gots anudder fink comin'!"

When Auntie Renate arrived, Domino was so glad to see her that she ran over and jumped on her lap.

First thing Auntie Renate did was to remove her cap. "I jus' loves Anty Renate!", says Domino.

Then it was time for dessert. Here's Auntie Susan showing off the home-baked chocolate pecan tarts.

And Mommy took a picture of her mini cheesecakes with strawberry sauce (flavoured with ginger and orange rind). Every guest got one and took home whatever was left. Mommy also made an apple pie with crumble topping but forgot to take a picture of it.

While the guests enjoyed their desserts and watched a movie afterwards ...

... Domino in her cap, had just settled down for a long winter's nap!

People are always commenting that they don't see my kitties when they're inside the house. I think some may believe that I never let them in.

However, these pictures will serve to prove that they do indeed live indoors. Actually, contrary to all appearances, the majority of their time is spent in lounging in the house. I just prefer taking pictures in the natural light (which I managed to do from inside this time, with the help of the light from the big bay window in the living room).

We have been flirting with snow of late. We'll get a dusting and then it will melt again, only to reappear a day or so later.

It certainly hasn't kept my darling 3-Ds from their appointed rounds. Witness ...

Here's the intrepid Domino on a scouting mission.

First she must check out what's new in our front yard ...

... before she PURRuses the neighbour's porch!

Of course, to Domino, it all belongs to her anyway -- one way or another.

Dylan takes a whiff of the neighbour's grill (and I don't mean the BBQ).

He's 'a-gassed' at the smell. "P.U.!", he exclaims.

Best to come back home where the air is fresh and clear.

Dante tracks his prey through newly fallen snow ...

... only to have it escape up the tree.

The next day after the rain has washed the snow away ...

... Dante doesn't fare much better.

"You're looking the wrong way, dummy!"

Tuxy or tabby, some things are the same. They're nosy and snoopy and always quite game.

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: BASKET CASE

Domino is just relaxing in her basket chair catching a few rays. However, with Domino you never know what mood is going to strike.

It begins with a vague sense of disquietude.

Then her ears PURRk up ...

... and her eyes narrow as the feeling grows.

"I sees yoo dere", she says, menacingly.

"Prepare to be PETrified!", she announces ...

... as she breaks into a fit of maniacal laughter!

The cackle turns into a horrifying howl! Run, efurryone, run! Domino's gone 'off her rocker'!

Just as quickly, Domino returns to normal.

"Doan be silleh!", she says. "Dis isn't a rockah -- is just mai baskit chair an' yoo kin see i'm not off it!"

Case closed.

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DYLAN: "THE EAGLE HAS LANDED"

When Dylan's outside he is on high alert. With his helicopter ears and his eagle eyes, nothing can get past his notice.

Dylan likes to make sure that the back patio door is still open, even if just a crack. If not, he will immediately beat a retreat to said back door and yowl at the top of his lungs.

Knowing he has a fast and easy escape route, his sharp senses take in all of the stimuli which surrounds him, until finally ...

... he finds trust in its familiarity.

His heightened senses can gear down ...

... as his ear flaps flip up ...

... and he glides into position for a landing.

Now totally relaxed, Dylan waxes philosophical. "Aftah all, wot is an
E-Gull?", asks Dylan. "It must be an
E-Male wif wings -- just like me!"

Being Enlightened makes it so much easier to fly.

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST!

Before Grampa passed, we had a birthday party for one of my lady furiends, Susan. Domino dressed up in her best party dress and acted as hostess. She was there to greet the guests, entertain them a little before dinner and then to wish them goodnight in her own peculiar way.

Before the guests arrived, Domino is checking out the venue to make sure everything is ready.

"Doan touch dis PURResent, Mama! Is NOT fur yoo!"

Domino positions herself in the PURRime greeting spot.

And none too soon, because here's the birthday girl herself -- Auntie Susan!

And right behind is Auntie Renate ...

... who scoops Domino up and tries for a cuddle.

"Not now", says Domino. "Lemme go -- I gots moar work to do!"

And just then Auntie Val makes her appearance!

"C'mon in!" exclaims Domino.

Auntie Val had a birthday card for Mama even though Mama's birthday was in October ('cause Auntie Val missed it). The card was mesmerizing to Domino because when you opened it, many cats would sing "Happy Birthday" in catspeak, of course.

"Meow meow meow meow, meow meow ...

Meow meow meow meow, meow meow ...

Meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow

Meow meow meow meow, meow meow"

Domino checked that card upside down and inside out, but she couldn't find where they hid the cats.

So FURustrated, she gives it the back of disrepect.

"I think it got wind of my disapproval, if yoo gets my drift", says Domino.

Not finished exploring, Domino moves on to the strange smells emanating from Auntie Val's PURRse ...

... but settles instead on the enticing aroma of Auntie Val's feet! Domino is a sucker when it comes to socks seeped in human scent.

So, Domino waits while all the ladies enjoy their dinner. Daddy has now taken over the task of waiting on them hand and foot at the dining table (although Domino did a pretty good job with Val's foot just a moment ago).

Domino thought she'd take a little nap in the meantime. She deserves it after all that hard work.

And before you know it, she has fallen fast asleep ...

... and doesn't notice when efurryone tiptoes out the door at evening's end.

A good time was had by all.

A week ago my father-in-law, Wladyslaw (Walter) Parij, passed away at the age of 88. He was born in Poland, and was a veteran of WWII, specifically of the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy. He endured many hardships in his early years before he emigrated to Canada after the war. There he met his wife, Jozefa and they had four children, one of whom is my husband (also Walter Parij).

In the last few years he was living in a retirement home which he called "The Hotel". By this point he had Alzheimer's and was pretty confused, but happy at his room in the hotel with its regular meals (for which he was normally first in line).

We would bring him to our house on a regular basis for dinner and a visit -- and that included kitty time, too, of course.

Here he is on his 88th birthday last May.

Walter Sr. never had a pet of his own. He thought animals only belonged on a farm. However, as he mellowed in his latter years he became quite enamoured of my three cats -- especially Dante who knew who "Grampa" was and would come out to greet him whenever I yelled "Grampa's here!".

Grampa was always good for some real good chin 'scritchens'. Even though Dante loved him, he was still compelled to do that arms' length thing that cats are wont to do.

Dante liked to sit on one of the extra dining chairs closest to Grampa, but would hop down when offered something yummy.

Grampa and Dante weren't just fairweather furiends -- oh no! Whatever the weather, they'd sit together.

Grampa would even kiss Dante on his mouth, though I never managed to capture one of those special moments on camera.

Grampa loved to dangle toys at the kitties. It aMEWSed him endlessly. Here he is enticing Dylan to play.

And, on the softer side, if he could catch one, Grampa liked to cuddle. Domino was happy to oblige.

I am so glad that Grampa was able to experience the joy of pets in his last years. They never failed to make him smile.

Grampa passed quickly and peacefully and we'll all miss him, as we do with all of those we care about. Bye, bye Grampa! See you later on the Bridge.

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DANTE AND DYLAN: BACKYARD BOYS

You've heard of the 'Backstreet Boys', haven't you? Well, they may have made a comeback of sorts but it's hard to beat those up-and-comers, the 'Backyard Boys'.

Let me introduce them.

First on deck is Lacocoon Dante, a Maine Coon red tabby with a myriad of howls and yowls. He can make the minutest mews or the most unearthly bellow, and every interval in-between. He rarely carries the melody, but provides a rich background of sound for his partner.

Well, howdy partner! This is creamy-dreamy Dylan, the other half of the 'Backyard Boys'. While his vocal range isn't as extreme as Dante's, he can definitely carry a tuna. It is piercing enough to be heard over even the most vociferous of wails.

They decided on the name the 'Backyard Boys' because this is where they met.

At first, there was some animosity.

But then a growing common interest ...

... really brought them together.

And now they have a wailin' good time!

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: IN THE PINK

Here is Domino all cozy in her basket chair on the front porch. She sure makes a pretty picture all curled up and tucked under.

The comfy cushion is a PURRfect foil for her colours. You can see her little pink paw pads on her back foot just peeking out at you.

"Pink-a-boo", she says. "I see yoo!"

So, I honed in even more to get a close-up of her pretty pinkies -- just for you toe enthusiasts.

"Dere's nuttin' like bein' 'in the pink' to make yoo feel relaxed an' happeh", says she.

"I wish da same fur efurryone. October is da time to 'Think Pink' for dose who is battling breast cancer. Let's all put our pinkies togedder an' 'Think Pink' to conquer dis awful disease!

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DANTE AND DYLAN: NO CONTEST

Dylan and Dante went head-to-head and sometimes even toe-to-toe today. There was absolutely no wrassling involved. Instead it was a Mancat Modelling Showdown! If you got it -- flaunt it!

"Honestly, dude, I wuz jus' showing my stuff. No offence intended", says Dante magnanimously.

"Well, my stuff is jus' as good as yoor stuff", retorts Dylan as he walks away with his tail held high.

"I saloots yoo, bro!", says Dante as he gives his brother a salutory raspberry.

All I can say is -- at least he didn't fart!

CATS & CROWNS STARRING THE 3-Ds

There has been so much controversy lately about TLC's show "Toddlers and Tiaras". So, I thought we would shift the focus to where it should really be -- on cats!

Cats are the kings, and queens, of pageantry.

Witness the King of the Beasts, himself, wearing his royal robes and crested with a crown befitting his status in the natural order. Dante is the true essence of pageantry.

Next, comes Domino, not looking unlike many of those toddlers in tiaras, herself. She's wearing her best 'beauty' dress, though her true beauty is within. Her tiara is just a reflection of that inner sparkle!

And then there's Dylan. Poor Dylan! Pageants shouldn't be used to over-sexualize your cats. It's so PURRverse to make your cat wear a crown with their bikini. This isn't a freak show, you know!

Come to think of it, cats don't need crowns either. They have already been blessed with natural beauty that needs no accessorizing. Their gorgeous and genuine fur coats are all the apparel they require. Like humans, their own hair is their crowning glory.

Ah! That's better!

3-Ds CHEER FOR LIVESTRONG!

Today is the day we support the fight against cancer, here and around the world. This post is for all of those who have, or are currently, battling this disease.

However, cancer has touched someone very dear to me just recently, and she can use all of your purrs and pawsitives to support her in this fight. It is someone many of you may know and love, as well.

Our own Crazy Cat Lady Carm has multiple myeloma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. Apparently, her spirits are high and she's up for the fight. Her case is highly treatable, and the fact that she is still relatively young and in good physical shape otherwise, is all in her favour.

Still, it is a devastating diagnosis and an uphill battle, as it is with all cancer patients.

Please join me in sending our love and well wishes to Carm. Dante, Dylan and Domino are leading us in cheers for her recovery.

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: RELENTLESS

Domino is a feisty little one. I know from personal experience that when she wants something, she's not one to give up -- no matter how long it may take to get it.

Last night she wanted my foot, and by Cod, she finally caught it. Not only that but she 'owned' it. It's a very strange feeling to not be in possession of your own appendage. Eventually she let me have it back.

Anyway, this is a story of relentlessness. Some of the pictures are a little fuzzy because I couldn't take time to focus properly or I would miss the shot altogether.

Domino is hunched near the bottom of the crabapple tree.

She is deeply focussed on her quarry. "Hello Quarry!", she says. "How are you today?"

"I'm a little off my nut, Domino" replies Quarry, "but thanks for askin'."

After discarding his nut, Quarry makes a bold move and skitters down the tree.

Domino leaps into action and gives chase. Quarry is barely a bodylength ahead.

But in a burst of speed to save his life, Quarry escapes up the maple tree.

"Yoor just a big tease!", exclaims Domino.

"Tee hee hee!" taunts Quarry who is now on top of the fence. "Jus' try to get me -- I dares yoo!"

The determined Domino cannot let this challenge go.

She was up the crabapple tree and onto the fence in an instant!

"Darn that thing!", says Domino. "It's escaped into the neighpurr's yard."

She hears Quarry giggling on the other side.

So she takes the plunge.

"Unfortunately, my Quarry was one step ahead of me all the way", says Domino. "But I shall not rest until he is mine one day."

What Domino does not yet realize is that Quarry is equally unrelenting. They are a good match in that department.

This nutcase may be very hard to crack. Game on!

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DANTE AND DYLAN: GET MY DRIFT?

Today's 'mellow drama' is starring those two magnificent mancats known as Dante and Dylan. Being the dudely divas that they are, they have insisted on having their close-ups up first.

"Peeples need a FURame of reFURence", declares Dante, and indeed there's certainly lots of FUR to be seen in this PURRticular FURame.

Dylan says "Wen yoor as hansum as I am, yoo don't wanna dePURRive yoor audience of the Big Picture!"

With that taken care of, the drama starts off very mellow indeed. Dante takes a lazy swipe at Dylan's tail from a relaxed position.

Dylan's tail recoils in surPURRise! "Wots up, dude?", asks Dylan. "Wot did I ever do to yoo?"

Dante, not satisfied with his first attempt, does it again! And this time, it's a whopPURR!

"Cheez!", exclaims Dylan.

"Yoo got cheese?", asks Dante hopefully.

"Yup!", says Dylan as he cuts one (the cheese, that is!).

Now that Dylan is totally 'cheesed off', he feels better.

From the look on his face, Dante has certainly gotten his 'drift'!

After that, Dante turns his attention to other matters. He's determined to rid himself of any lingering, unwanted FURagrances.

"Let's call a truce, bro", offers Dante. "An' let bygones be bygones, so to speek."

Dante is still thinking about the now bygone cheesie.

It was an easy peace, until ...

"Revenge is sweet!", says Dante.

"Butt you're not!", retorts Dylan.

In the end, everything works out between the two drifters.

"If yoo cant lick him", says Dylan, "then just lick yoorself!"

We told you this drama was mellow.

Since so much time has been devoted to Domino lately, I thought I'd do a post with all of the 3-Ds today. So here are some of the best and latest of Dante, Dylan and Domino for your viewing pleasure.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOMINO -- AND ALFIE, TOO!

Today is Domino's birthday and she's wearing her brand new pink party dress that Mama gave her as a present. She's waiting for Milo to come and whisk her away across the pond to celebrate her birthday alongside Milo's brother Alfie. You see they have the very same birthday -- September 1st!

So, because Milo can't be two places at the same time, Domino happily joins him in Sidmouth, England. It's just so exciting, that Domino can hardly contain herself. Here she is waiting impatiently for Milo to arrive.

"Mama! Mama! Wot time is it? Wen is Milo gonna be heer?"

"Calm down, Domino -- and Happy Birthday sweetie! Milo will be here very soon, but while you're waiting, why don't you model your new birthday party dress for everyone?"

"OK, I will", says Domino, "as long as I kin still look out fur my Milo."

What a pretty frilly dress Domino has! There are three tiers of pink tule with a white satin bodice trimmed in pink, too. The satin bow adds just that extra touch of "over-the-top"!

"I kin hawdly stand it!", exclaims Domino. However, she does stand nicely for the camera, even if

ever-so-impatiently.

Domino sits down to give you a better view of the back of her dress.

It's just so 'frilling'!

Then suddenly a beam of sunlight comes down on Domino from the sky.

"It's him! It's him!", shouts Domino joyfully.

Milo is here and Domino can't hustle quickly enough to greet him!

The dress makes it a little harder to run, and she does have to PURReserve her ladylike decorum.

And finally they meet! Milo's waiting on his boogie mat to whisk Domino away to the birthday party at his home in England.

"Bye! Bye! Domino. You and Milo have a safe trip now -- and a very Happy Birthday to you ...

... and to Alfie, too! He turns 3 years old today."

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO P.I.: THE CASE OF THE MISSING GARDEN

In addition to efurrything else that Domino does on a regular basis, she moonlights as a PURRivate InvestiCATor -- actually she moonlights mostly during the day, but will do whatever it takes to solve a case. If this means doing a stakeout after midnight, she's all for it!

"I alwais enjois a good STEAK-OUT, speshully durin' BBQ seesun!", says Domino.

"I yam verreh PURRsistent, even wen I cums up against a brick wall."

"I'm onna noo case dat hits verreh close to home -- mainly cuz it involves da next-door nayPURRs", says Domino. "Dis is dere gardin last yeer."

"An' dis is wot it looks like now!", she says.

(Biggify again)

Domino starts by investigating the porch. There's not much new except this heavy stone urn.

"But is empteh!", exclaims Domino. "Efurryfing is disaPEERrin' arownd heer!"

"Nuttin's gonna stop ME frum nosin' arownd!", declares Domino.

"I sees dere's a seeder bush. Dis is noo!"

However, where there used to be a lush garden, there's now just dry earth.

"Dis is a case fur Inspectah Domino! I calls it da "Case of da Missin' Gardin".

"An' wif da red mulchies -- no wondah I feels likes I'm on Mars!"

"Dey has takin a 'hosta' hostage, I see!"

"Undah dis twee dere yoosta be sum luffly gween purrywinkle ..."

"... I remembahs it well!"

"Now dere is just sum dried-up seeder mulchies! I tells yoo itsa reel crime."

"I'm afraid I'm gonna hasta turn dis wun ovah to da PAWlice! I has dun da legwork, but dey hasta lay da charges. Dere's a long list of offences! I noes I'm certainly offended by dis travesty, so I'm gonna giff da cops all of da evidents dat I fownd."

Later that day the neighbours were charged with vandalism, kidnapping and murder. They were undeniably the culPURRits responsible for destruction of a garden, holding a hosta against it's will, and killing perfectly healthy plants, flowers and bushes only to replace them with a Martian landscape!

Well done, Domino!

Case closed.

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DYLAN AND DANTE: THE SHOW MUSK GO ON!

Although they love each other dearly, Dylan and Dante are dis-STINK-tly different. Dylan takes care of his business very discreetly. Not so Dante, who likes to make a public show of it. Of course, being the "Secretary of Fertilization" for the Society of Feline Gardeners has something to do with that -- but truth be told, Dante is a born exhibitionist.

Dylan was relaxing on the deck bench when he hears a disturbance behind him.

Dante just dug a butt-sized dePURRession in the earth, which releases a rather musky smell.

Soon, the scent is intensified as Dante adds to his already pungent pile of backyard doodoo.

Dylan's sensitive nose is assaulted by this freshly-depawsited funkiness.

Here's a shot of the PURRpetrator in action!

"Uh-oh! He's in it fur da long haul, if yoo get his drift!", despairs Dylan.

And drift it does! "I cud use a powerful wind frum da south", says Dylan "ta get rid of dat whoppin' wind frum da norf".

And just then ... "Oh, fank Cod!", exclaims Dylan in relief. "Dante's finely finished depawsitin', an' he's buryin' it deep in de erf." Dante considers this his 'buried treasure'.

"Oops! Pawdon!", says Dante as he inadfurtently breaks wind one last time. It adds that final 'musk-have' note to the symphony of smells.

After that last blast has wafted away, Dylan says to Dante, "I'm glad yoo finely cleared de air between us."

"I hasta mark dis spot wif an "X" so I kin find it again. Dat's wot yoo do wif buried treasure", explains Dante.

It just goes to show you that one mancat's funk is another mancat's treasure!

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: TUMMY, TOES AND TIDBIT!

Domino is just relaxing on the deck bench. It's such a lovely day. The heatwave is over and cooler temPURRatures prevail.

For once there's no one else around to bother her, so Domino just stretches out and chills.

Even when Domino isn't wearing one of her pretty dresses, she still has the natural modelling instinct.

She knows just how to display all her assets.

Here's the toe-and-tummy shot which so many of you crave. Not only are Domino's toe pads PURRfectly pink, but her tummy is as well. She's been overgrooming it a bit lately, but it's still entirely kissable.

Domino curls under her front paw for that cozy, yet coy effect!

A very tasty tidbit!

Domino remains calm, cool and collected, but hunkers down to make herself as invisible as PAWsible.

But finally, the tidbit notices her anyway ...

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DANTE AND DYLAN: UP!

DOMINO IS A TINY, TUXY MULTI-TASKER!

Domino is a very busy little ladycat. Her days are just jam-packed from morning until night. She never ceases to amaze me with her various talents and the way she balances all of her activities. The term 'multi-tasker' just barely covers what Domino does on a daily basis.

Ah, it's a beautiful morning and Domino takes time to appreciate the moment!

Then she PURRforms her morning aBLUtions. "I much preFURS pink", she says, but BLUE will hasta do!"

After a good wash, Domino does a little exercise. She begins by climbing the crabapple tree up to the fence.

Then she does a little fence-walking ...

... and stretching, before starting work.

Here, Domino is reporting for work as our "BBQ Inspector".

It's impawtant to check that the gas is turned off. Domino does a sniff test just to make sure.

And after checking out the back of the BBQ, Domino has determined that it's A-OK!

Of course, no inspection would be complete with checking under the hood!

But Domino has elected to be a hood ornament instead. To be fair, she's been working so hard, she needs a break.

After a little snooze, Domino is fresh as a daisy, and ready for her modelling duties. Here she is in a cute 'candystriper' outfit. The fresh pink and white stripes really suit her.

And here's the 'candy' in her 'candystriper' dress!

But nothing is quite as sweet as Domino, herself!

Then when Mama has a dinner party for her furiends that evening, Domino takes over the hostessing duties.

There's never a dull moment when Domino is there to entertain the company!

Once the guests have departed, Domino can finally rest. She is very, very tired and just about to drift off to sleep. "Good nite, efurryone!", she says. "An' doan worry about da bedbugs, cuz i had dem fur a snack aftah dinnah!"

Rest easy, my little multi-tasker -- you deserve it!

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM!

Domino's been out and about, just enjoying the day in general. She's feeling just great! Efurrything is calm and peaceful.

She stops at the reFUReshment stand for a cool drink of water. Even though she's relaxed, it helps to keep her on her toes!

"Now I feels like a liddle B-B-Q!", she exclaims.

"It's a grrrreat place to chill out!", she says.

"Yoo mai has noticed I am warin' a collah", Domino points out. "It is a calmin' collah. Momma gotted it fur me cuz she seed I wuz stressed out!"

"I wuz groomin' my furs 'til I wuz bald on mai tummeh and da back of mai legs!"

"I feels wunnerful now, doe!", she says. "If yoo wanna noes why I wuz so stressed, jus' look at who else is warin' a calmin' collah!"

DYLAN'S BIRTHDAY AFTER PAWTY!

After Dylan and Dante came back from Samson's party in Montreal last night, we threw a little party ourselves -- in the family room.

Domino was just too exhausted and was off having a nap, but she partook later in the evening.

Daddy sprinkled half a tub of catnip on the rug, and we put out diced ham, and jerky treats.

Since it's Dylan's birthday, Dante is patiently waiting for his turn at the nip, and having a little snack in the meantime.

"Mmm, mmm good!", says Dylan, smacking his lips ...

... before he plunges right back in!

"Dis is summa da bes' I efur tastid!", he exclaims.

Daddy sprinkled some nip on Dylan's scratcher, too!

Dylan has only one birthday wish.

"I wishus I has a birfday efurry day!", says he.

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: SAY 'YES' TO THE DRESS!

Domino could hardly wait until today -- Tuesday, that is, so she could wear her brand new summer dress. She has taken a little holiday from modelling lately, but is now back in full FURce!

Oops! Pawdon! Domino's just getting a little adjustment to avoid any pawsible wardrobe malfunction. We'll come back a little later ...

... A LITTLE LATER

Domino begins by posing prettily in her new dress.

"I sai "Yes" to dis dwess!", she exclaims enthusiastically.

The dress is a cotton number in black, white, pink and green -- just like Domino herself!

With her pink nose, green eyes and black and white coat, this dress is a true reflection of the wearer.

Domino stretches out so you can get the full effect!

Then, she settles down on the edge of the chair ...

... and poses eFUR so demurely!

"I likes to take dese modullin' challenges head on!", she says, right before ...

... she heads for a walk on the runway.

She runs into a bit of an obstacle, however. The gardener hasn't finished watering the plants yet.

But this gives us another opportunity to see the stunning back of the dress in greater detail. Note the hot pink trim with bow at the waist. It really helps to define Domino's ladylike shape.

Domino poses at the entrance to the garden (even though the gardener hasn't gotten around to whippurrsnipping yet). In her floral frock, she is a wonderful foil for this ruggedness, where unbridled foliage meets up with the tame. In truth, this is an analogy for Domino herself.

Domino seems tame, but underneath there's a wildcat just waiting to leap out!

This little wildcat's had enough for today. Modelling this beautiful attire (as much as she loves it) has tired her out. "I'm gonna wetire fur mai mid-day nap", she says, "an' I'm NOT takin' off mai dwess!"

When Domino wakes up, I guess we'll just have to call her "Rip Van Wrinkle"!

THURSDAY IN THE GARDEN WITH DYLAN (FOR A CHANGE)

Usually, it's Dante that does the gardening post. However, he has nothing new to show this week, so he decided to turn the reigns over to his brother, Dylan.

Dylan doesn't do any work in the garden. He idles. Idling is essential to the 'idyllic' life, you see!

Here is Dylan lounging on the front patio.

From here he can view the entire garden, and all the comings and goings.

He tucks his paws under to make it abundantly clear that he is NOT available for any physical laPURR.

Watching is what he does best.

When he finally rouses from his reclining position, he does just that -- he watches!

"Watchya doin', boy?"

"I'm on 'Hi' alert", says he. "I wanna be da furst wun to say hello to any visitahs."

Standing proves to be too much of a strain, so Dylan moves to the garden bench a few inches away.

"Sumtimes, I jus' cant STAND IT!", he exclaims, while focussing on his tender tootsies.

Dylan has a look of 'Chat-Grin'! 'Chat' (pronounced 'sha') means 'cat' in French -- and we all know what a grin is.

Chagrin is one of Dylan's best looks. He's got it down to PURRfection, I think.

"Mama, yoo's soooooooo annoyin'!", says he.

"Heer, I giffs yoo wun last idlin' pose" ...

"I yam the Idle IDOL!", PURRoclaims Dylan. "No wun duz nuttin' bettah dan me."

Ain't that the truth!

TUXY TUESDAY: DOMINO'S ROUND TRIP!

It's Tuesday morning and Domino is preparing to do the first of many walkabouts for the day.

Her first stop is to say 'Good Morning' to Kitty Buddha and get his blessings for a safe journey (even if it is only next door).

You have to take every journey one step at a time.

Domino gives a backward glance at the home she is leaving behind.

You never know what dangers lie ahead.

Sometimes it just takes a LEAP of faith!

Domino has landed safely after her short flight. She stares back at me to see if I was watching.

"Ta da!", she says.

The way down seems much less treacherous.

"Earth to Domino!"

"I has dun alls I kin doo, fur now", says she.

"I's gettin' a liddle homesick, ackshully."

And with a hop, skip and a jump, Domino is back where she started.

"Is so good to be home", Domino says with a sigh. "An' fanks to Kitty Buddha I is safe an' sound!"

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DANTE AND DYLAN: MIGHTY HUNTERS

I always have a stash of peanuts in the shell to scatter for the squirrels -- and some birds will take them, too! When I'm on the front porch, I take handfuls and just throw them. I aim for the grass on the other side of the bush garden, but some fall inside it. Some only make it to the front walkway (I don't have a very good pitching arm).

Even though every time Dante and Dylan are out in front watching the squirrels hop here and there gathering nuts, the hunt is more mysterious when all that's left is their scent.

The hunters are like PURRivate detectives on the trail of the culPURRit!

Dante lifts his nose and opens his mouth slightly to the wafting scent of squirrel!

Across the walkway, Dylan smells it, too!

Dante follows his nose (like a good PI will) and crouches down low. The scent is even stronger here!

"If yoo wonts ta find dem, yoo hasta get down to dere level", explains Dante as he searches low.

Dylan sniffs a little higher, and asks a higher power (Kitty Buddha) to bless the hunt.

"Ware o' ware kin dat liddle tyke be?", asks Dylan.

Dante retraces his steps. Chances are better if you start again from where you began.

And Dylan follows.

Suddenly, there are rustling noises from next door. Are the neighPURRS harbouring what they seek?

Dante is limited by the length of his rope, so he's determined to dig deeper into the matter on his own proPURRty.

"He's defunitely bin dis way not long ago!" exclaims Dante. "The scent is strong an' FUResh."

Dante figures he'll just hunker down and wait for Mr. Squirrel to return while Dylan takes a drink at the reFUReshment stand.

"Is hot an' i'm tired", says Dylan. "Let's call it a day, OK?"

You can see the look of determination on Dante's face. He's not ready to give up -- now -- or eFUR!

"PURRsistence is da key ta sucksess", he so rightly declares.

And while Dante looks the other way ...

"Tee hee hee!" says Mr. Squirrel.

DOMINO IN TUXY TUESDAY ON TIPTOE!

Domino has just finished paying her daily homage to Kitty Buddha. It's been hot outside lately, and she's feeling kind of thirsty.

"Good fing dere's a outdoor drinkin' bowl rite heer!", she says.

Domino is quite tiny, but like most kitties, can stretch themselves farther than one would expect.

"Da birdies musta drunk mos' of dis watah, cuz dere's hawdly any heer."

So Domino has to stretch even farther than usual and get on the very tips of her toes to reach what is left.

The moral of the story?

Sometimes, you have to TOE the line to get what you really want.

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DANTE AND DYLAN: TABBY TABOOS

The boys are out in the front yard together. Dante's just relaxing on the front porch when he hears something rustling.

"Wot's dat?"

"Oh, is jus' Dylan -- wot's up bro?"

"Ware are yoo goin'? Hey, get back heer!", demands Dante.

"I wonts ta doo sumfing excitin'", says Dylan, "but I wonts yoo ta cum, too!"

But Dante doesn't move, so Dylan decides to wait.

The more Dylan waits, the more impatient he becomes. "How EARitatin'!", he proclaims.

"Dum de dum, dum" mumbles Dylan as his eyes glaze over with boredom.

Then Dylan hears something behind him.

Why, it's Dante! Dylan must have fallen asleep for Dante to get by him without notice like that.

"So heer I yam!" exclaims Dante.

"Wot is it dat yoo wonts ta doo?"

Now Dante is the one who must wait, as Dylan tries to make up his mind.

"Good gwief, bro -- ware doo yoo wanna go?"

"Follow me", says Dylan.

"Dere's sum reely interestin' stuff goin' on heer at da nayPURRs -- let's check it owt."

And so they do! No stone or brick is left unsniffed!

"Da mos' excitin' fing is dat dis is TABOO" says Dylan.

"Wot duz it meen, TABOO?" asks Dante.

"Itz wen tabbies, like yoo an' me, do sumfing dey is not supposta do, and den dey say "Boo"!, replies Dylan. "Is yoo reddy bro? Let's say it togedder now. 1, 2, 3 ...."

'BOO!'

TUXY TUESDAY WITH DOMINO: A DAY IN THE LIFE

When Domino is outside, she is such a busy bee. She doesn't have much time to sit still, except when there are pats to be had.

Today, I am going to show you a typical day in Domino's life. Remember, she is Queen of her domain (and most of our neighbours', too)!

This is Domino LOOKING FORWARD to the day ahead.

She starts out with a nice walk on the fence.

It's good exercise, but you can also keep an eye on everything from up there -- especially the next-door neighbour's yard.

Next, Domino senses something untoward, so she walks toward it. Go figure!

It's paint! We hired a painter to redo the wood trim around all the windows (in the ivory colour), and to repaint all the doors and shutters (in the deep green).

Domino gives the painter a dirty look. She wants him to know she won't tolerate such a mess on her proPURRty.

Then Domino spots Daddy and rushes over to take advantage of an oPURRtunity for a good scratch.

And she rolls around on the patio just for the fun of it!

Here's a short video of Domino and Daddy. The funny thing is that Mommy had the hiccups while she was filming it -- you may notice the camera jump once or twice.

When all is quiet once more, Domino stops to pay homage to Kitty Buddha by bowing before his altar.

And then she's off to see what she can find on the other side of the house.

Who should she run into, but Dante, sitting on the grass right beside Stone Kitty. Domino gives the spot a good sniff to make sure there haven't been any introoders.

And then she she pauses briefly to give her brother a sweet little kiss!

But enough of that -- she's off!

Domino tests the grasses in the neighbour's yard to see if they taste any different.

Then she checks out the work that they are doing, and tries to detect who has been this way before her.

Domino always appreciates someplace new to sit and survey the neighPURRhood.

After such a busy day filled with fence-walking, brick-rolling, snooping, sniffing and general surveillance, Domino returns home to contemplate her good fortune.

Thank Kitty Buddha -- life is good!

MANCAT MONDAY WITH DYLAN: EARS TO YA!

Dylan's ears are very expressive. They seem to be a barometer of his emotions. If he's uneasy, his ears go this way and that, and when he's relaxed, his ears return to their normal position, making him appear serene and almost angelic.

Here are pictures I just took which demonstrate the PURRogression of Dylan's ears. When he first goes out on the deck, he is on high alert. First he must ascertain that the patio door isn't totally closed, in case he needs a quick escape.

The ear engine's just starting up!

Cockpit nose to the wind, one ear cocked to the east and one to the west.

Finally, the copter blades are in pawsition and ready to rotate.

This is what we call 'extreme copter', all wound up and ready for take off!

And just when you think he's going to take flight, the ear engines slow down and ...

... return to their start pawsition!

And all is still. Real angels don't need copter blades to fly -- because they have invisible wings in their hearts!
